Light Utility Operations
Swanson Group Aviation has a fleet of three Lama helicopters available for utility flight operations of all kinds. The Lama helicopter is the workhorse of the commercial light helicopter class, and can lift up to 2,000 lbs. and carry four passengers. It has excellent high altitude performance, and is the helicopter of choice in many alpine environments.
SGA has wide experience in seismic crew and drill support operations, and has utilized our Lama aircraft for extensive airborne magnetometer work in demanding flight conditions domestically and in South America.
SGA has multi-experienced Lama pilots with high flight hour time in longline and crew support operations in mountainous terrain worldwide. We maintain an extensive inventory of spare parts for our aircraft and perform our own maintenance. Our Lama aircraft is utilized regularly for:
- Seismic field support, utilizing bag runners, DynaNav or Kodiak GPS systems, and specializing in drill, crew transport and longline operations.
- Airborne magnetometer surveys
- Powerline support
- Wildland Firefighting Heli-Tack operations
- Aerial seeding and straw mulching
- Mining operations support
- Construction lift operations including HVAC units, ski tower sections, concrete pouring, sockline pulling and crew transport.
